HELP US RAISE MONEY FOR FRIENDS

Legends Hospitality at Raymond James Stadium is offering FRIENDS an opportunity to raise money for our organization.  We need 20 volunteers to help us take "ownership" of a concession stand at the stadium during events. We would be responsible for counting inventory, handling money, preparing food, selling product, cleaning, and providing customer service to guests during events.

The requirements are:

1.  All volunteers have to be 18 years of age or older as the stadium will be selling alcohol.

2.  Every volunteer that participates in our fundraising program is required to attend an in-person orientation that includes customer service, food safety, and alcohol safety (Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management).  This training will include cash handling, inventory, register, and operational training. Each organization is required to have 2 trained leads at each event.

3. We need at least 20 volunteers. We would like our Special Needs self-advocates who are 18yrs or older to help work the stand, advocating, showing the community that our adults can and do work.

4. We are looking to do at least 5 events. The events will be from 6 to 10 hrs long.  Though you won't be actually attending the event, you'll get to listen to the concerts of The Rolling Stones and Kenny Chesney, not to mention be caught up in the excitement of the football games! Imagine being there for Superbowl 2021!!

Jeff Green and myself will be leads for the events. If you can help with all five events or just one, please click the link below to sign up!. You can also sign up by replying to this email, or sending an email to info@friendssupport.org, or calling me (813)245-2782 or Jeff Green (813)453-1632, jeff@friendssupport.org . The next training is March 8th and March 28th.

Thank you so much for supporting FRIENDS! We appreciate all of your time and effort in to helping us raise money for our programs and advocating for our Special Needs community!

Sincerely,
Ann Foyt - FRIENDS Executive Director
& Jeff Green - Treasurer

How to Approach My Brother With Down Syndrome

I’ve grown up with my brother, Michael, who has Down syndrome my whole life. It’s always been natural for me to approach another individual with disabilities without hesitation. However, I’ve noticed that even some of my closest friends struggle with approaching Michael, so I thought I’d write about ways to make it easier.
